Welcome to 7th grade Science!

Welcome to 7th grade Science!  It's going to be an exciting year.  I am eager to get started and thrilled to be involved in your child's education.  Listed below are a few topics we will be learning about this year in 7th grade:
  • Weathering and Erosion
  • Catastrophic Events
  • Biomes
  • Succession
  • Biodiversity
  • Ecology: food chains, food webs, energy pyramids
  • Adaptations
  • Stimulus and Response
  • Dichotomous Keys
  • Cell structure and function
  • Photosynthsis
  • Heredity
  • Sexual and Asexual reproduction

Students will be working in Interactive Notebooks (INB's) all year.  The INB's will stay in the room, unless students are not finished with homework or there is an upcoming test.  This year students will have a weekly supporting homework sheet that will be due every Thursday.  I have attached the Year At a Glace (YAG) to keep everyone updated on the current content.
This year we will be exploring hands on with labs. All students must have a signed safety contract on file to participate in the labs. Here are a few items we will be exploring:
  • Frog Dissections
  • Owl Pelletss
  • Witnessing Weathering and Erosion
  • Extracting Strawberry DNA
  • Bird Beak Adaptations
Students will receive daily and major grades throughout the year.  Daily grades consist of homework, daily work, and quizzes.  Major grades consist of test, CBA's, and projects.  Projects will be conducted in the classroom and at home.  If students can not complete the project during class time, they must work on it at home.
Once again, I am excited to be in the classroom with your 7th grade child.  If you have any questions or concerns, I may be reached at
